Like many people born and raised in Portsmouth, Stephen wants his city to be a safe and welcoming place for all. That is why his efforts when it comes to tackling crime have been as relentless in parliament as they have in the constituency.

- Out with bobbies on the beat and joining police on patrol in every ward in his patch
- Lobbying for more police officers on Portsmouth’s streets
- Pioneering a campaign aimed at highlighting crimes committed against the LGBT+ community
- Working with others to prevent anti-social behaviour in Old Portsmouth
- Campaigning to stamp out shoplifting and for additional support to local shop traders
- Tackling violence against women and girls by voting for tougher sentences for rapists
- Meeting Police and the Crime Commissioner regularly to relay constituent’s doorstep feedback
- Making sure resources are targeted to where our community needs them
