Vote Labour today for a better Portsmouth

Today (Thursday 4 May) Portsmouth people, like many others across the country, go to the polls.

Local elections determine who runs your council and shapes decisions about the many services you use every day. They are also a good way to send the Government a message.

That’s why voters are asking themselves: after 13 years of the Tories do I feel better off? Are my public services better? Are our streets safer? And for most people, the answer is ‘no’. That’s why these elections are so important and every vote matters.

The Government has had 13 years of doing things one way, the Tory way. In contrast we have been setting out how the Labour way would build a better Britain.

Our plan will make working people better off – it’s a fully costed plan that will cut crime, cut waiting lists, cut the cost of living.

It’s not just the Tories that are letting people down. Locally the Lib Dems are too busy trying to cling to power, they are failing to tackle the challenges our city and local families face.

They have promised time and time again to deliver a new city centre. Yet 20 years on we have nothing to show for it. They promised a greener city yet ploughed on with their destructive plans for Tipner West. They oversee some of the worst recycling rates in the country.

It is little wonder residents tell us the Lib Dems are holding our city back with tired local leadership and a lack of ambition for our community.

It’s so frustrating when our city is so full of potential. I’m doing all I can in Parliament to speak up for you and fight for a better Portsmouth. With a bigger team on the city council they will work with me to get things done.

A vote for your Portsmouth Labour candidate today is a vote to cut crime, to cut waiting lists and to cut the cost of living, and to deliver the positive plan for you and your community.

Let’s build a better Portsmouth, together. Please vote Labour today.
