Stephen Morgan is inviting everyone in Portsmouth South to get involved in UK Parliament Week (UKPW), an annual event spreading the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how you can get involved.
This week provides an opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about how democracy works and how they can have your say on the issues that matter most to them as part of UK Parliament’s biggest public engagement campaign.
UKPW is taking place from 24-30 November.
A total of 29 organisations, including youth groups, community organisations and schools, within Mr Morgan’s constituency have already signed up to host UKPW events for this year.
Organisations hosting events will be using their free UKPW resource kits to explore UK Parliament, what it does, and the important work done by Members.
Mr Morgan has already attended 6 of these events within local schools, such as Cottage Grove Primary School and Fenchurch Junior School, with groups of young people also paying a visit to the constituency office. He will also be attending many more throughout this week to encourage greater understanding of British democracy.
Commenting Portsmouth South MP, Stephen Morgan said:
“Growing up in Portsmouth, I never thought I’d have the opportunity to represent our great city in Parliament.
“This is a valuable opportunity for people of all ages in our city to get informed about how they can engage with UK Parliament, so that they may also represent our city and make a difference.
“Every year, I am proud to see the many people and organisations actively take part in UK Parliament Week.
“I look forward to the many UKPW activities that are still to take place within Portsmouth, and I celebrate those that I have already had the privilege of participating in.”
To help people learn more, Stephen Morgan MP has created a short presentation about UK Parliament Week and Portsmouth South, which includes a quiz at the end for local groups to use. You can access it here:
