Our thoughts are with Londoners

The following is a statement from Portsmouth Labour
Parliamentary candidates for Portsmouth, Councillor Stephen Morgan and Rumal Khan have shared their shock and dismay at the terrorist attacks on London Bridge and around Borough Market, the second atrocity to have taken place during this general election campaign.
Cllr Stephen Morgan, local candidate for Portsmouth South, said:
“Once again it’s hard to imagine the horror for those caught up in this appalling act of terror, and I know I speak for our great city when I say our thoughts are with the victims, families and friends involved.
These murderous acts aim to undermine our values and our democracy. We must never allow that to happen.”
Both candidates wanted to express their heartfelt appreciation for the work of the police and emergency services in response to these violent attacks, and also the NHS staff and members of the public who bravely contributed to protecting others.
Rumal Khan, local candidate for Portsmouth North, said:
“I am deeply saddened by this violence perpetrated yet again on innocent bystanders. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected and my condolences to all the families involved.
I will be working closely with others to bring different communities together in our city to stand up for our common British values against these acts of terrorism.”
Alongside other political parties, Labour has suspended national election campaigning until this evening.
