Stephen Morgan MP is inviting local people to get involved in a new Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board for Landport, to shape how £20 million is spent as part of the 10-year Pride in Place programme.
This programme is part of the Government’s wider Pride in Place Strategy, setting out a national ambition to restore local pride, tackle deprivation, and empower communities to shape how their neighbourhoods improve.
Portsmouth, Landport and Paulsgrove have been selected to receive a combined £40 million long‑term investment through the programme, designed to support:
- Stronger communities
- Thriving places
- Residents taking back control
Neighbourhood Boards will be made up of residents, community groups and local businesses and will develop a 10‑year Pride in Place plan for each area.
The Landport Neighbourhood Board, which is being led by independent chair Father Bob White, will work together with Stephen Morgan MP and Portsmouth City Council to ensure decisions are community driven.
Getting involved is voluntary, but modest financial support may be available to ensure volunteering is accessible to all.
More information can be found here.
Residents who feel they could take on the role should send an expression of interest to landportprideinplace@portsmouthcc.gov.uk by 3 June 2026.
Commenting, Stephen Morgan, MP for Portsmouth South, said:
“I am so proud to have secured funding for the heart of our city to help restore pride in place. This £20 million investment into Landport will change lives and transform our communities.
“Portsmouth people know our city better than anyone else and that’s why, through this Government funded programme, we are keen to deliver Pride in Place in Landport differently.
“This is our chance to improve our city by making the big decisions for ourselves – not by letting others make decisions for us.
“I look forward to delivering this programme with the community and actively encourage anyone with the interest and time to apply to be a member of the new Landport Neighbourhood Board and help to make a real difference in their community”.
