Today Stephen Morgan MP paid a visit to Kingston Recreation Park (The Rec) to see progress being made on the transformation of the park in Fratton.
The project, led by Fratton Big Local with support from the Big Lottery Fund and Veolia Environmental Trust, aims to radically improve play and open space provision at the popular park off St Mary’s Road.
In recent years the community have been asked what they’d like to be seen done in Fratton, with a key priority being provision for children and young people. Now Timberplay have been busy at work through recent rain and snow to develop a new play area to open in late April.
Stephen Morgan, Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South, who grew up in Fratton went along to meet the team working on the project with local resident Tom Coles.

Much thought has gone into this transformation project and its very clear to me that this investment will greatly improve this key open space in Fratton and the heart of our great city. I can’t wait to see it open for local families to enjoy.
I thank all those involved in this important project and to those funders that have made it possible”.
