Have your say: Stephen’s Morgan MP’s Big Conversation on ensuring every child succeeds and thrives

By 9 November 2023No Comments

Stephen Morgan MP is inviting constituents to attend the next in a series of pop-up events to share views and ideas on how we can ensure every child in Portsmouth succeeds and thrives.

It follows Mr Morgan’s previous events on caring for our local NHS, protecting Portsmouth’s precious environment, making our city’s streets safer and investing in Portsmouth.

The events form part of Mr Morgan’s Big Conversation, a listening campaign providing constituents with an opportunity to have their say on the issues that matter to them, shaping the Portsmouth South MP’s priorities for the year ahead.

The next event will take place on Saturday 18 November 11AM-2PM at the Bridge Centre in Fratton.

No booking is required, and constituents are invited to drop by whenever is most convenient for them. A gazebo will be staffed by team members and volunteers with a range of interactive activities.

The event will provide constituents with an opportunity to discuss their views, ideas and concerns relating to breaking down the barriers to opportunity that exist for children growing up in Portsmouth.

During the event, attendees will be invited to share their views on what Mr Morgan should be prioritising in Westminster, including:

  • Improving mental health and wellbeing
  • Raising standards
  • Increasing the number and quality of teachers
  • Widening participation in music, arts and sport
  • Improving school buildings
  • Tackling the cost of the school day

Commenting ahead of the event, Stephen Morgan MP, said:

“From a lack of access to extracurricular activities to crumbling school buildings, life is becoming harder, not easier, for young people growing up in our city.

“That’s why I want to hear from fellow residents their ideas on how barriers to opportunity can be broken down to ensure that every child in Portsmouth can succeed and thrive.

“I encourage constituents to attend this Big Conversation pop-up event to share their thoughts on what I should be prioritising as their local Member of Parliament.”

Constituents unable to attend this event are encouraged to have their say by filling out Mr Morgan’s online survey at www.stephenmorgan.org.uk/bigconversation
