The Department of Health and Social care has shared with me in a briefing this afternoon the five ‘metrics’ used which feeds into decision-making on tiering across the country.
These are:
- 7-day case rate per 100,000 population;
- 7-day case rate in over-60s per 100,000 population;
- rate at which cases are rising or falling (% week on week change on rate);
- positivity rate – people tested positive/people tested in a 7-day period; and;
- NHS pressures – admissions/hospitalisation and patients ventilated.
