Portsmouth MP Stephen Morgan has said the city should host a celebration to honour John Mousinho and the entire Portsmouth F.C. team following their promotion to the Championship as League One champions.
A fantastic season has seen Pompey promoted with an eight-point gap between them and second place with two games remaining. It means they return to the Championship for the first time since 2012.
Commenting on the news, Portsmouth MP Stephen Morgan said:
“Firstly, I want to say a massive congratulations to everyone at the football club on a fantastic season.
“The club and the fans have gone through a long and difficult journey in recent years, so it has been brilliant for the city and all Pompey supporters to have so much to celebrate this year.
“The scenes at Fratton Park last night will live long in the memory and I know all Pompey fans are buzzing that the club is heading in the right direction again.”
Commenting on the potential celebration, Stephen Morgan said:
“Opportunities for our city to come together and celebrate as one don’t come around too often, so I think it’s really important the city finds a way to work with the football club to do that, so we can all honour the team on their brilliant season.”
