Stephen backs local business

By 3 February 2016No Comments

In a letter to local businesses, Stephen Morgan, Labour’s candidate for Charles Dickens, values the contribution of local businesses to the city and calls for their support in improving life chances for residents across Portsmouth.

In the letter, being delivered to local shop owners and business leaders in the ward, this week.
Stephen says:
“As a local person – and with experience of working alongside businesses to encourage economic wellbeing – I have always wanted to get involved in politics to make Portsmouth even better. This year I’m delighted to get that chance.

I don’t believe the Tory council nor the current Lib Dem ward councillor are doing enough to help our local area. They’ve remained too quiet on how they could help the local economy or our shopping areas.

As a local business you play a huge part in the success and vibrancy of communities across our great city: providing local services to our neighbours; encouraging local growth; and adding to community employment.

Communities across Charles Dickens ward, face huge challenges. I want to have a constructive and regular dialogue with local businesses so we can work together to make life better for residents.

It’s time we had strong representation in the ward and a councillor who will put local residents and businesses first.”
