Responding to the result of the vote of confidence in the government tonight, the Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South, Stephen Morgan, said:
āThis Tory government is running scared after blocking Labourās no confidence motion in the Prime Minister.
āInstead, it moved the goalposts to keep him presiding over his zombie government, as Tory Ministers distract themselves in their bids to replace him. Meanwhile, the country faces a national emergency, a spiralling cost-of-living crisis and worsening backlogs caused by his governmentās economic and political failures.
āPortsmouth and the country do not need a fourth Conservative Prime Minister in six years. We need a fresh start and a Labour government that will always act in the national interest.ā
