Stephen Morgan MP joined hundreds of local people and families as volunteers delivered another colourful and successful Portsea Carnival through the city’s streets today.
The event is completely organised by local mums and community groups in Portsea. A parade took place around the area starting and finishing at the popular John Pounds Centre with this year’s theme being the rainforest.
Recognising the hard work of local volunteers the Portsmouth South MP said:
“There has been another side of Britain in the last few days. Communities working together, pulling together and supporting each other.
“There is no better example of this than Portsea Event Group’s Carnival through local streets – a brilliant community initiative bringing together children and local families to celebrate what’s best about our city – its people and our culture.
“Very well done to all those who made today so special for local families. Memories were made for children and young people today in this special part of Portsmouth”.
Portsea Carnival is an annual event organised by the Portsea Events Group. Donations and support for the group to support local initiatives are always welcome.
