City MP Stephen Morgan participated in the Big Help Out locally by joining Portsmouth’s Coronation Clean on Monday, organised by Good Gym Portsmouth ahead of their 5th birthday.

In tribute to His Majesty The King’s public service, the Big Help Out brought together thousands of organisations and encouraged 6 million people to help out and give back to their local communities through volunteering.

The City’s Coronation Clean saw Mr Morgan joined by Good Gym supporters, local people and Portsmouth Scouts to clean off Graffiti at the Gibson Centre, as well as litter picking and emptying gullies and drains in Somerstown.

Good Gym Portsmouth, organisers of the Coronation Clean, continue this important work all year round through bringing together local residents who run, walk, or cycle to help out community projects and older people in Portsmouth.

Mr Morgan commended the organisation ahead of their 5th birthday.

Over the past 5 years, the Good Gym Portsmouth have logged over 7,000 good deeds, including 78 missions to help elderly people, and 1,730 group sessions in support of community projects.

Commenting MP Stephen Morgan said:

“It was a pleasure to join Good Gym Portsmouth, Portsmouth Scouts and local people for the Big Help Out in Portsmouth this Bank Holiday, as we removed graffiti and cleared up Somerstown.

The Good Gym are a brilliant organisation who continue this important work all year round, serving our community by volunteering without pay or praise.

Ahead of their 5th birthday, I want to recognise the organisation for the fantastic work they do and encourage constituents to show their support by getting involved in the exciting activities they have planned for the year ahead”.
