Stephen Morgan MP has backed Labour’s has new policy roadmap to deliver a fairer, greener future for Britain.
Setting out an ambitious policy agenda that focusses on the key issues facing Britain, Stronger Together: A Fairer, Greener Future shows how the next Labour Government will transform Britain after ‘twelve years of failure’ under the Conservatives.
The report sets out in clear, unambiguous detail the bread-and-butter policies that Labour will implement to transform Britain for the better.
It details Labour’s plans to tackle the cost of living and climate crises head on, deliver better and more secure work, build high quality and accessible public services, reduce crime and the causes of crime, give every child the best start in life and restore Britain’s standing on the world stage.
Key policy pledges include:
- A commitment to bring good, sustainable jobs to all parts of the country, creating new green jobs and decarbonising existing ones through Labour’s Climate Investment Pledge.
- A New Deal for Working People within the first 100 days of a Labour Government, including new Fair Pay Agreements, stronger family-friendly policies and fundamental employment rights from day one in a job.
- A ten-year plan of reform to social care that will act as a roadmap to a world-class National Care Service that makes people as proud as the NHS does, with a focus on keeping older people in their own homes for longer and guaranteed pay, conditions and training for carers to make this happen, and a new NHS national target guaranteeing mental health support within a month for those who need it.
- Investment in early years to reduce childcare costs and extending statutory maternity leave, a National Excellence Programme to recruit 6,500 new teachers and a Children’s Recovery Plan that includes guaranteed breakfast and afterschool provision in schools, and extra-curricular enriching experiences for all pupils.
- A commitment to make ending violence against women and girls a key mission in government, with a new national register of serial domestic abusers and stalkers, specialist rape and sexual assault units in every police force area, and new minimum sentences for rape and stalking with new ministerial responsibilities across government.
- Action to make Brexit work by striking trade deals and building partnerships that deliver jobs and opportunity at home and support prosperity and fairness around the world, a commitment to buy, make and sell more in Britain by ensuring more British businesses can benefit from winning government contracts.
