Stephen Morgan MP joined Clare Martin, Chief Executive Officer of Pompey in the Community, to show his support as her fundraising Pompey Plod begins.

For this challenge, Clare Martin has committed herself to completing 5 marathons across 5 days, travelling over 130 miles in total.

As a part of Portsmouth100, 100 of these miles will be completed in celebration of this city’s centenary.

Through Pompey Plod, Clare Martin is raising funds for the John Jenkins Stadium, which provides opportunities for local young people and families through Pompey in the Community, Portsmouth Football Club’s charity organisation.

Pompey in the Community is using sports programmes, educational workshops and wellbeing initiatives to inspire, support, and bring the community together. Donations made towards this fundraising challenge will go towards the John Jenkins Stadium and its many programmes.

Earlier today, Clare Martin began her first marathon, with a brief stop off at Stephen Morgan MP’s constituency office on Albert Road.

Commenting, Stephen Morgan, MP for Portsmouth South, said:

“It was a pleasure to join Clare on her Pompey Plod to give my support to her completion of this challenge and pay tribute to Pompey in the Community’s work.

“John Jenkins Stadium is providing valuable opportunities for members of our community, and every donation will help secure its future in our city.

“This is not only a valiant fundraising effort by Clare, but also a fantastic way to mark 100 years of this great city.

“I urge everyone who can to give, and give Clare a boost for the 130 mile journey ahead!”
