City MP Stephen Morgan has shared his support for local initiative Loaves of Love to celebrate community and empowerment of local women.
Since their foundation, Loaves of Love has dedicated itself to fostering community and empowering of local women through baking, touching the lives of many in the process.
As part of their mission, the organisation is using baking to:
- Enable local marginalised women to rebuild their confidence and
self-esteem - Provide a safe environment to support the emotional needs of vulnerable local women to relax, interact with each other and develop connections, sk ills and confidence
- Support female refugees in overcoming culture and language barriers
while celebrating and sharing their own cultures - Promote contact and cultural exchange with the wider community
A successful event saw many Portsmouth residents visit Mr Morgan’s constituency office to purchase baked goods and celebrate the community contributions of this organisation over their 4 years of operation.
Commenting, Stephen Morgan MP for Portsmouth South said:
“Portsmouth’s welcoming community will always be one of its greatest strengths. I welcome the hard work of volunteers in bringing women together and supporting vulnerable people in our city.
“Britain is an open, tolerant and generous place. We have more in common than what divides us, and I commend the work of Loaves of Love for all they do.
“I celebrate the continued operation of an organisation that reflects the values that this city has always stood for.”
