Statement from Stephen Morgan MP, Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South, on Chinese New Year:

“I’d like to wish the entire Portsmouth Chinese community a happy new year.

This is a time to celebrate with friends and family, to reflect on the past year and look to the year ahead.

2019 is the year of the pig. People born in the year of the pig are loved for their kind, honest, helpful and forgiving nature, believing in maintaining peace and harmony.

We can all be proud of the Chinese community participating in our great city in so many ways. Running local businesses, studying at the university, contributing to our city’s economy, to our creative industries to our public services, thank you for what you do for Portsmouth.

Albert Choi and the local association is doing so much in uniting the Chinese community, helping and supporting each other and promoting friendship and harmony among all of our city’s communities.

As your Member of Parliament, I’d like to wish you a happy and prosperous new year and look forward to working with you in the year ahead”.
