Stephen Morgan MP has visited Portsmouth Citizens Advice to better understand current issues and challenges the local service faces, and thanked staff for their ongoing efforts to support constituents through the cost-of-living crisis.

The Portsmouth MP met with the Chief Executive Officer of the local branch, Sandy Bramley, and other staff, spending time at four of its key service teams, including its Money Advice Team, Hampshire Home and Well Team, Front Line Triage and Generalist Team and Research & Campaigns.

The charity provides support to local people to get access to the services they need, including issues relating to benefits, housing, health, immigration, and many others.

Underlining the impact the organisation has locally, last month alone, Portsmouth Citizens Advice Centre helped 1,455 people receive a £120,195 income gain, and dealt with over 5,000 different issues.

The Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South, Stephen Morgan, said:

“As the cost-of-living crisis continues to go from bad to worse, it’s vital Portsmouth residents get access to the services they need.

“It’s been really useful seeing the impact first-hand Portsmouth Citizens Advice has locally, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to thank staff personally for the work they do to support our city.

“If you are in need of advice or support but are unsure about where to get it, contact Portsmouth Citizens Advice who will be on hand to help, or will put you in touch with someone who can.”
