Christmas 2022: Message to all constituents

By 24 December 2022No Comments

Season’s Greetings!

As another year is almost behind us, I want to convey my warmest wishes to you and your family this Christmas.

Whilst this time of year is often spent with friends, family and those closest to us, it also offers a moment of reflection on the year behind us.

2022 has been a tough year for many, with sad stories of loss and hardship both at home, and abroad.

The war in Ukraine has been a pivotal moment in history, not just in global politics, but in the humanitarian crisis that is a result of this tragic conflict.

For those families that have had no choice but to leave their homes and loved ones behind, Christmas will look very different this year.

At home, I know the challenges of the Cost-of-Living crisis are impacting many people in Portsmouth and across the country.

As food prices have gone up and energy costs continue to soar, it is important to remember to look out for friends, neighbours, and those who are more vulnerable.

I want to thank all those who will give up time this Christmas to provide food, help and support for others, our dedicated NHS and care staff who continue to work tirelessly to provide care for us all, and those in the armed forces and emergency services for bravely keeping us safe.

In many ways, 2022 has been a time of community spirit, and has brought many people together.

In remembering the legacy of Her Late Majesty The Queen, and her dedication to our country, we are inspired to help one another and follow her examples of kindness and compassion.

However you may be spending this festive season, I wish you a very happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
