Labour’s manifesto – launched today – gives voters a real choice: a fairer Britain for the many or a Britain held back by the Conservatives.
This manifesto shows a fairer Britain is possible with a Labour government putting the interests of the many before those of the few.
Under the Tories, the NHS and social care have been pushed into a state of emergency, with soaring waiting lists and hospitals in financial crisis.
Schools across the country face cuts and class sizes are rising, while those young people who want to go to university face huge debts. House building has fallen to its lowest peacetime rate since the 1920s. And our safety has been compromised with more than 20,000 police officers cut since 2010. The Tories have spent the past seven years giving the super-rich tax breaks, worth tens of billions, while working families are set to be on average over £1,400 a year worse off.
This general election can be the chance for a fresh start with a Labour government. Labour’s fully-costed manifesto sets out a credible vision for the many not the few.
Labour will invest to create shared prosperity. We will protect our public services, give the NHS the money it needs and deliver good teaching in good schools for all our children.
Labour will guarantee no rise in Income Tax for 95 per cent of taxpayers – those earning under £80,000 a year – and no rise in VAT or National Insurance for everyone. Labour will raise income tax only on the highest five per cent of earners, and will increase corporation tax while keeping it the lowest in the G7.
Labour will ask those with the broadest shoulders to contribute more to ensure that schools, hospitals and other public services have the funding they need.
Labour will create a National Investment Bank, and regional development banks, to invest in infrastructure and finance growth and good jobs in every region and nation of the UK.

1. Making work pay: A real living wage of £10 per hour by 2020.
2. Investment in Britain: Labour’s £500bn big deal to upgrade the economy.
3. Take back control: Rail, energy, water and Royal Mail in public ownership.
4. Jobs and economy first: A Brexit for the many not the few.
5. Extend childcare: 30 hours for all 2 to 4 year olds.
6. Our children’s futures: Increase schools funding, cut class sizes and free school meals for all primary school children.
7. Free education: Scrap tuition fees and college fees.
8. End the NHS crisis: Extra funding for our health service.
9. Dignity for all: Towards a National Care Service.
10. Your community safer: 10,000 extra police officers.
11. Decent homes for all: A million new homes to rent or buy.
12. Tax guarantee: No VAT, national insurance or income tax rise for 95%.
