Stephen Morgan MP is inviting constituents to his next Cuppa and Chat event on Saturday 27 June to discuss cost of living in Portsmouth, and what further action can be taken.
The coffee morning, taking place from 10:30am to 12 noon, will also be attended by a panel of local representatives that will be sharing information and answering questions on this topic in an informal setting over light refreshments.
Attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and concerns for Mr Morgan to take back to Westminster.
The event, which follows the announcement of a bold package of measures to ease the pressure on household budgets over the summer period by bringing down costs for families spending time together, will be in Milton.
Attendees will be notified of the venue ahead of the event.
Constituents can sign up to attend the coffee morning here.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Portsmouth South MP Stephen Morgan said:
“In recent years, life has been tougher than it needs to be for people across the UK, including here in our city. That is why, as your MP, my relentless focus is on tackling the cost of living to put more money back in your pockets and ease the pressure on household budgets.
“The Warm Homes Plan is one of many measures taken by this Government that are already making a difference for Portsmouth people. This scheme is not only improving sustainability through clean energy upgrades to homes in our city but also bringing down the cost of living for those who are most in need in our community.
“That is why I remain committed to listening to the views and ideas of constituents on this issue and look forward to hearing their experiences and suggestions directly so that I can continue to take the right action for Portsmouth people both locally and in Parliament.”
Since coming into office, the Government has already announced a series of measures that are supporting Portsmouth people with the cost of living, including:
- Up to £150 off energy bills
- Freezes to rail fares
- Freezes to prescription charges
- Increases to the National Minimum Wage and State Pension
- More money in parent’s pockets with free breakfast clubs and 30 hours of government funded childcare saving parents thousands each year.
Additionally, earlier this year the Government announced the £15 Billion Warm Homes Plan, intended to help millions of families across the UK access clean power home upgrades that will cut energy bills and address fuel poverty, including solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and insulation.
This month, Mr Morgan met with Portsmouth residents to discuss the difference that is being made by the Government’s new Warm Homes Plan to local people.
