Responding to the Privileges Committee report today (15 June 2023), Portsmouth Southâs Stephen Morgan MP said:Â
âThe evidence in this report is damning and the conclusions the committee came to are clear. Mr Johnson is a lawbreaker and a liar.
The Prime Minister is so out of touch he thought it was right that taxpayersâ hard-earned money fund Mr Johnsonâs ongoing lies to the public. Given the findings of the committee, Rishi Sunak should demand Boris Johnson pays back every penny.
Portsmouth people deserve so much better than this incompetent, chaotic Conservative Party. Itâs time for a fresh start with a mission-led Labour government and a Prime Minister of integrity in Keir Starmer who will put working people and families firstâ.
Ahead of a parliamentary vote on Monday the city MP added:
âWhilst we are yet to see the motion before MPs, the Prime Minister must now confirm the Government will follow precedent and give the House the opportunity to approve the report and endorse the sanctions in fullâ.
